UltraCam Support Team Expands

When I speak to prospective customers about the value of investing in an UltraCam system, I find myself speaking to three primary value proposition pillars: the Product, the People and the Promise.

Ultra Family“Product” speaks for itself. When considering the worldwide market, the UltraCam is arguably the leading selling camera brand in its class. Whether its the UltraCam Hawk, UltraCam Falcon, UltraCam Eagle or UltraCam Osprey ,we have a system to meet different stages of an organization’s project or budget needs with state-of-the-art technology. Along with that, customers are buying into an unparalleled upgrade path that allows any UltraCam nadir system to be updated to become a larger footprint UltraCam system through refurbishment, thereby protecting the original investment. Our modular UltraMap photogrammetric workflow suite allows UltraCam customers to ingest data and take it to a level 2 or 3 TIFF or JPEG image, create and export high-density point clouds, DSMs and orthomosaics, all in a highly automated, time-efficient manner. In a sound bite: premier photogrammetric tools for organizations who insist on delivering quality photogrammetric and mapping products to their clients.

When I say “People”, I am speaking of the team behind the product. This includes everyone from the exceptionally bright minds in Product Development that are responsible for designing these exceptional products, to the folks in Production, Sales, Marketing, Accounting and Administration that make it possible to bring these tools to market in a reliable and timely fashion.

And let us not forget those in Support, which also brings me to the “Promise.” Behind david workingevery UltraCam installed is a world-wide network of Support technicians that work tirelessly to ensure that UltraCam systems are delivered, installed and maintained to the satisfaction of our customers. These guys work long days, weekends and holidays. They are on call 24/7 and routinely sacrifice personal time to ensure a level of support that has earned them the reputation of being among the best, if not THE best, in the industry. Many an UltraCam customer has told me that our support is among the top reasons they do business with us.

With this in mind, I have some great news to share: the Support team is rapidly growing. While the recent announcement (below) focuses on the team in Boulder, Colorado, this is true outside of North America as well. As the announcement below points out, this means that through dedicated telephone numbers support is available 24/7 from anywhere in the world

A personal but public note to the entire UltraCam Support team: thanks, team. You are surely appreciated.

Microsoft Adds to UltraCam Technical Support in Boulder, Colorado

Graz, Austria — April 15, 2014 —The Microsoft UltraCam business unit demonstrates its continued commitment to the UltraCam product line and its customers worldwide by announcing the expansion of the technical support team based in Boulder, Colorado.

support boulderSince May 2013, the team has grown from three staff members to a total of nine, which includes a photogrammetrist, implementation engineers, and a logistics technician. The photogrammetrist assists customers with accuracy issues and their transition from analog to digital work flows. Implementation engineers travel offsite to handle repairs and installations, as well as perform routine annual camera service and calibration at the Boulder lab. With cameras arriving from all around the world, the logistics technician is responsible for efficiently shipping and tracking the valuable cameras after work is complete.

“By adding to our available resources in Boulder, the support team is able to respond more quickly to questions and requests for service and installations,” said Carl Smith, Microsoft Lead Implementation Engineer. ”We expect the team will continue to grow at a rapid pace to keep up with the number of systems being introduced into the field.”

“Our Boulder lab supports the entire Microsoft UltraCam commercial product line and internal Microsoft programs,” Smith continued. “Due to the complexity of the technology, we look for candidates from top engineering schools, professionals with military electronics backgrounds and specialists with image processing expertise.”

Microsoft’s UltraCam business unit has taken a further step to support its customers by setting up three dedicated telephone numbers through which specially trained staff are available for support requests 24/7 from anywhere in the world. Depending on the time of day, customers will be connected to a support team in Graz, Austria; Boulder, Colorado; or Singapore. The goal is to minimize camera downtime by answering questions and quickly shipping spare parts without delay.

The Graz support team consists of nine support engineers, and Singapore has an additional three support personnel. The Singapore office is operated by ImageMaps, an in-country Microsoft partner. The Graz, Singapore and Boulder facilities are each equipped with a calibration lab and a workshop to repair and check cameras. In addition, United RST and Beijing Siwei provide comprehensive after-sales technical support and repair services for all UltraCam systems in the People’s Republic of China.
